Founded in 1943 as a contract manufacturer of military insignia, Ira Green, Inc. (IGI) has expanded into a full-service manufacturer and distributor of nearly 40,000 unique items for the military.

From our state-of-the-art Providence, RI facility nearly 300 employees manufacture and distribute military decorations, medals, insignia, related uniform items and a complete line of tactical products and accessories under our Brigade QM brand. Our uniform items are proudly worn by military personnel around the globe, and our tactical products are used daily by these troops to help them successfully complete their missions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES   Support supervisor by managing and distributing work to all different areas of the departments. Support lean manufacturing by maintaining a clean and organized department, per 5S audits and requirements. Maintain departmental visual boards to plan, organize and schedule work to meet assigned departmental schedules and productivity goals; Interface with others in the organization to ensure customer due dates are met; Ensure that parts are inspected by workers to verify conformance to specifications and customer requirements; Support supervisor to enforce all company’s policies throughout the department. Support supervisor to analyze and resolve work problems. Assist workers in resolving work problems; Maintain time, attendance and production records for polishing department. Report any incidents to supervisor and submit incident reports to Human Resources in a timely manner. Address employee inquiries to Human Resources as needed. Support supervisor in conducting safety trainings according to company’s policies.   QUALIFICATIONS Strong inventory control skills. Knowledge of warehouse operations best practices. Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication and analytical skills Ability to manage priorities and workflow Basic computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, etc. Bilingual skills a plus. Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures, using clamps and wrenches. Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications. Inspects parts with precision and measuring tools. Tests operation of machines periodically. Fixes issues that might occur during the shift. Checks output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws. Keeps records of approved and defective units or final products. The electroplater is responsible for setting up and controlling plating equipment to coat metal objects electrolytically with copper, nickel, silver, gold, rhodium or other metal to provide protective or decorative surfaces according to specifications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reads work order to determine size and composition of object to be plated, type concentration and temperature of plating solution, type and thickness and location of specified plating metal, and amount of electrical current and time required to complete plating process. Measures, marks, and masks areas that should be excluded from plating. Mixes and tests the strength of the plating solution using instruments and chemical tests. Sets up and controls plating equipment to coat metal objects electrolytically with chromium, copper, cadmium, or other metal to provide protective or decorative surfaces or to build up worn surfaces according to specifications. Applies electroplated coatings to high quality metal components using standard electroplating technology. Inspects plated objects visually at the end of the plating process to determine the thickness of metal deposit or measure the deposit thickness using instruments, such micrometers or calipers. As part of the finishing process, may grind, polish or rinse the plated object in water and dry it to maintain a clean even surface. Recognizes plating defects and advises the Finishing Supervisor when they occur. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.   QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
