Westat is a large Employee-Owned Research Corporation located in Maryland. Westat began as a visionary startup in 1963. Now, 50+ years later, we continue to pioneer new ways to support the changing needs of clients. Westat leads the field in innovative and robust statistical and methodological research to meet the challenging needs of our clients. We create and implement solutions by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), data analytics, data integration, survey statistics, and survey methods. Our goal is to deliver the highest quality research and approaches. Westat researchers publish on a wide array of topics that further our understanding of the field and focus on improving lives through research. Westat supports research behind many federal, state, local, and foundation studies. Westat sets the benchmark for excellence in education by evaluating programs, helping build capacity, and providing training and program-centered technical assistance. Our staff specialize in program implementation and impact evaluation from design through analysis and policy-relevant reporting, as well as performance monitoring. Westat is responsible for sampling and data collection activities and the support and service center for The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). NAEP is a congressionally mandated project administered by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Often called the “The Nation’s Report Card,” NAEP is the only nationally representative continuing assessment of what America’s students know and can do in various subject areas. Westat data collectors are the critical front line, obtaining the data at the source. We are now recruiting staff to work on NAEP 2022.
