AAA Northeast

AAA is a civic, not-for-profit organization rendering valuable service to the public, as well as many specialized services for the exclusive benefit of its members. We have no stockholders, and no one makes a profit from AAA dues. All the funds are returned in the form of service to members and to our community, or held in reserve for anticipated future needs.

AAA has two primary functions: first, to provide products and services that deliver safety, security, peace of mind, and savings to AAA members; and second, to work for the general improvement of motoring conditions through legislative and other activities. AAA's Roadside Assistance is a legendary embodiment of what our brand stands for.

Through their affiliation with AAA, the various Clubs provide “reciprocal” service. This means that a AAA member can walk into any AAA Club across the country and be served, or pick up the phone to obtain help at the roadside wherever he or she may be. In this sense, when someone belongs to any AAA Club, he or she belongs to all of them. By providing specialized services for a large segment of the car-owning public, by representing the nation's millions of motorists in all matters affecting their interest, and by working continuously and aggressively to improve motoring conditions, AAA is performing a unique and essential service to members and to the motoring public at large.

Founded in Newport, RI on May 31, 1900, AAA Northeast started as the Rhode Island Automobile Club. One of its most enduring contributions was its recognition of the need for a national association. In 1902, the Rhode Island Automobile Club was one of nine Clubs that met in Chicago to form the American Automobile Association. AAA's initial purpose was to promote the establishment of safe roads, a commitment that remains strong to this day. Our Club's own evolution has been continual and dynamic. To date, we have aligned with several independent Clubs (AAA CT, AAA North Andover, AAA New Jersey, AAA New York and AAA North Jersey).

The combining of these formerly independent Clubs with AAA Northeast has brought our membership size to over 5.7 million. Our footprint includes a service territory in a total of six states.
