The North Fork John Day Watershed Council seeks motivated women and men who have served in the US Armed Forces to fill a four-person wilderness trails crew to re-establish and improve the existing trails system in Eastern Oregon. The women and men of the Wilderness Veterans Trail Crew “Wild Vets” will work to improve public access and safety on the wilderness trails system, as well as complete in-stream restoration and habitat conservation benefitting native fish and wildlife. The Crew Member position offers veterans with a valid DD214 a path to reenter civilian life while gaining transferable experience supporting careers in natural resources.

The NFJDWC's mission is to participate in the planning, funding, and implementation of programs that enhance and sustain healthy North and Middle Fork John Day watersheds, support tribal cultures, and strengthen the long-term stability of individuals and communities that rely on the watershed natural resources.
