Summary Description Drivers should be courteous, friendly and be able to deliver excellent customer service to passengers. Drivers must assist passengers getting in and out of the vehicle, and load and unload passengers in wheelchairs. Drivers must transport passengers to and from their destinations in a safe manner. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Drivers must perform: a pre-trip vehicle inspection on all vehicles assigned for the shift; perform a pre-trip inspection on all equipment such as wheelchair tie-down equipment, vehicle hydraulic wheelchair lift, and others. Ensure all safety regulations and precautions are followed as required by Federal safety regulations as well as company safety policies and procedures. Communicate with local management team, passengers, company dispatch regarding operational issues or concerns. Prepare and submit daily driver’s log(s) and vehicle inspection report(s) at end of their shift. Education & Training High school graduate or GED equivalent is preferred but not required. A valid driver’s license Class C required. A valid CPR/First Aid card is required. The company will provide CPR/First Aid training certification, if necessary. Drivers must provide a current DMV Driving History report printout with application, driving record must be current and valid no more than 30 days from the date of the application. Knowledge and Experience Experience driving vehicle(s) and driving passengers with special needs are a plus. Must have a driver’s license for at least five (5) years. No more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) ‘at fault’ accident in the last three (3) years. Applicants must be familiar with using mobile phones, a GPS/Navigation app in a mobile phone, and familiarity with the general area assigned. Core Competencies Ideal candidates should be prompt, self-motivated and responsible. They must have good communication skills and a positive attitude. They must be willing to go the extra mile in providing excellent customer service with safety at the core. Working Conditions Drivers must be able to work in a fast pace environment. Shifts are daily including weekends, work hours vary. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test. Applicants must pass a DOJ and/or FBI background check and company training. Full time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefit package that includes vacation, sick pay, holiday pay, medical, dental, vision, and 401k. Physical Requirements Driver must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, including but not limited to: lift up to 100 LBS, push and pull up to 200 LBS. Must be able to bend and pivot from waist, and be able to move from a standing position to kneeling position and back to standing. California: Driver must be able to pass the DL51 (DOT Medical).
