Toyal America is dedicated to being the world's technological resource for leading-edge aluminum pigments for automotive and other high, value-added coatings applications, located in Lockport, IL. We are looking for an experienced Paint Process Specialist who willprovide technical support for automotive and industrial paint related application to R&D, Sales, and Quality departments. This position reports to the Technical Manager along with R&D Chemist, R&D Technician and Technical Administrator. Summary Statement This position is responsible for providing technical support for automotive and industrial paint related application to R&D, Sales, and Quality departments.   Nature and Scope This position reports to the Technical Manager along with R&D Chemist, R&D Technician and Technical Administrator.   Essential Function   Manage and utilize Paint Application Support Laboratory including spray booth Operate and maintain Durr; rotary bell atomizers, Graco; electrostatic air spray and hand spray guns in the spray booth Stay up-to-date with customer’s formulation, spray parameters and test methods Carry out correlation work between Toyal group companies and customers Prepare automotive and industrial paint formulation, carry out related tests and spray panels based on Toyal’s and customer’s requirements Carry out bench marking, color matching and evaluation of metallic pigments to support Product Development and QC team Actively participate in product development and technical support projects. May require travel to Toyal group companies and customers as needed Participate in root cause investigation of customer complaints Prepare, record and maintain appropriate process documentation Responsible for handling all paint process related waste Coordinate spray booth schedule with local and global team Other duties as assigned by the Technical Manager   Job Requirements:   The minimum requirement for this position is: Excellent painting and color matching skills for metallic pigments Extensive knowledge of automotive paint systems and spray guns A minimum of 3-5 years of hands on experience with automated and manual spray gun painting is preferred. Experience with X-rite, BYK-MACi, viscometer and Rheometer would be a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to interact effectively with team members, managers, co-workers, and customers. Strong problem-solving skills.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Strong organization skills & ability to multi-task to complete projects. Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or related field is preferred but not required Some local or international travel may be required Desirable skills:  related industry experience, automotive color matching, customer exposure Equal Opportunity Employer: Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran
